Why are working differently this year ? we are working different this year because covid 19 decided to come and kill thousands of people , so we were qurantined for 6 months everything was shut down and schools recently opened and we still have social distance.
How can restrictions / constrains help to make it creative? it can make us more creative because you're more focused and you don't have to rush trying to think of ideas on the spot and you can take your time so it can be good.
Why are artist good at solving problems, what habits do they have? Artists are good at solving problems because they know how to work around mistakes that they have made and make it . the habits might be when they make a mistake they can it A LOT better.
What does the phrase make it and mend do me? make it and mend it means to me that you get another artists piece of work and make it your own style.
These are pictures of things that are in my bag. When taking my picture the room was dark so the lighting was horrible and I think this could be better. The angle I'm taking the pictures in works well but some of the images are cut off. I could of explored taking the images in portrait or landscape.
Adding and Subtracting
We have been looking at the idea of of Make, Do and Mend.

Sharon Walters
Sharon Walters is a London based artist, who showcases black women through her collages. She uses precision layering cutting out her work and layering it on top of bright colours too make work that shows more people of colour and highlights their beauty by exploring layers.
I could respond to her work by: selecting some of my favourite music artist of colour and cutting out specific shapes to highlight their bone structure and layering with coloured backgrounds. The artists I would like to use are: toosii, brent faiyaz, polo g , Alex oxlade-chamberlain.
Hannah Hoch
Hannah Hoch was a dada German artist. Hoch Inspiration was Pablo Picasso , as she uses a similar technique that he did in his work. Hannah Hoch was born November 1st 1889 in gotha Germany and died May 31st 1978 in Berlin Germany
Hannah Hoch's work was very different and abstract, she uses magazines and newspaper to create her art work. she cuts out different bits of the magazine like faces, boats and body parts to make a composition and a whole new image., This is called collage and links to the theme of Make Do and Mend because she's is taking someone else work and creating her own work with it. I think this work is about a woman roles during this time. It is clear that she is a German artist and uses imagery from factories and car factories.
Maurizio Anzeri
Maurizio Anzeri makes his portraits by sewing directly into found vintage photographs. his embroidered patterns garnish the figures like elaborate and he likes to show peoples feelings and thoughts. born :1969 (51 years old) I like Maurizio Anzeri's work because its different to anything I've seen and its very interesting because all his work is different and doesn't look the same.
This is my response to Maurizio Anzeri
This is my work, that we had to do in class. it was my first time sewing in my opinion I think I did all right. WWW;i think I used there right colours and the all go together EBI: I could of made the holes bigger because I was using the big threrad so I could make it neater because as you can see theres a lot a holes that I poked but they weren't straight and it makes it look really messy.

Gordon is an American artist who lives and works in Brooklyn , New York born in 1980 (40 years old) What can you see? I can see a lot of fruit and food art work that he liked and I he likes to do human portraits by using papers and magazines and different shapes. How do you think it was made? using real fruits and using magazines and different colours of paper What skills/habits has the artist used to make his work? Gordon uses the same colours for e.g. one of his pieces he uses different shades of green and they all compliment each other What 3 words would you use to describe his work? eye catching , different , fun What questions would you ask the artist? How long does it usually take to make a piece ? What inspires you to come up with your art work?
prison photography
i am interested in prison photography because it different and sounds interesting because you're looking at people who have probably been locked up for something bad and trying to have fun with a camera. how is prison like being in lockdown during covid -19? prison is like being in lockdown because you are literally restricted to barely do anything you can only leave your house for essential shopping for eg, food and more and we're not able to go out and see our family and friends why is photography used in prison to rehabilitate immamtes? so you know who is who and who has been locked up before why might it be different to practice photography in a prison setting ? because you probably have a limited amount of time outside of your jail and you probably don't have any nice setting and this is a way they're going to try express themselves
Photography treasure hunt.
What we had to do
.The photos above are part of a photography treasure hunt. These linked to the prison photography we could only take photos of what we'd been told to. Everyones photos are different because everyone came up with different ideas about how to take the photos and their houses and spaces are different. Below if the treasure hunt list.
View outside a window
Back of a persons head
The palm of your hand with the word help written on it.
Your unmade bed
The spine of a book
A landscape
A pile of clothing
My favourite image out of these is the pile of messy clothes. i feel like it's a good self portrait of me. I'm a tidy person and the clothes are clean, but it's shows how I'm feeling at the moment.
Treasure hunt part 2
As a class we got to chose what what we wanted to have on our photography treasure hunt. I had chosen the 4 items above which were:

Developing my own ideas further.
this is my make do and mend personal project.
this is my attempt to re create Maurizio Anzeri art work. EBI: i think if my lines were straighter on the piece that is black and white it would look better and it a bit closer together because Maurizio art work it very close together. For my piece that is with the yellow back ground i think if some of it was closer i would be. WWW: for my first attempt i think its actually very good not as good if i had practice but i think its good.
i like the one with the yellow background the most because it looks so much better it was my second attempted and lines were straighter and i'm going to use the same technique on the black and white one and re do it
this is my attempt to do this lined stitch on the black and white one and i think i turned a lot better than i thought but if it was closer it would look better maybe that should be my EBI
How was the process? the process was a little bit easy at some point i was struggling because i was struggling to make the stitches but i got it in the end. Materials used? i used paper and thin thread and needles Artist influence? Maurizio How to improve? to use smaller thread and not rush and make sure it doesn't look rushed either Other possible materials? no not really these are my stitched images , i picked these pictures because i liked these out of all of the ones i took of my friends Eve and Melissa
i was looking at Abigail Reynolds work and i liked her style so i decided to try it and i liked her combinations with black and white with other colors , As you can see the printer kind of made it brighter and i tried to fold it and see if i would look better and bring out some of the colors . the photo is quite distorted because of the printer
